CLIFTON VIRGINIA.

Clifton Virginia is located centrally in northern Fairfax Virginia and is 22 miles to the west of Washington DC. Clifton has a population of about 10,000. During the Civil War Clifton was known as Devereux Station. In 1868 Devereux Station became known as Clifton Station. Clifton Virginia was established as a village in 1869 and was incorporated in 1902 as a town with a charter from the general assembly. Until the station was removed in 1958, it provided much of the growth in the Clifton area.  Clifton is noted for its  19th century architecture, and in 1984 Clifton Virginia was declared a National Historic District by the U.S. Department of Interior.

For this reason, in the Washington DC, and northern Virginia area, Clifton Virginia is unique. To visit Clifton, it is to take a trip back in time to a better place! Despite its close proximity to Washington DC, Clifton remains bucolic, rural and idyllic in appearance.
